Pillow Hostel

Location is good.

The bathrooms aren’t clean at all, with black mold everywhere. The people working in the opposite building look directly into the female-only bathroom. Which is very awkward. There are better hostels on the same street for much less and with better facilities.

The location is near to Taipei transportation hub and underground shopping street as well as surrounded by variety of eating places and convenient shops. Staff is polite and very helpful to provide assistance and convenience during check in.

Own making bed would be noisy and disturbing other tourists staying in the same room.

The beds are quite private, location is nice and central, easy to find, lots of food nearby, and Pillow has a well equipped kitchen if you are on a tight budget.

We found the pictures and description very deceiving. While it sells seperate dorms, it is in fact one large space with small ‘bays’ without doors. When we arrived all windows were shut, so the place was one large stuffy, smelly, damp bedroom (all windows were fogged up..) (we opened the windows and asked to move beds to the only one with a window adjacent). As everything is one room, including reception/common area, expect some noise&light nuisance. The bathrooms were quite dirty and damp too, meaning there is mold on practically all ledges/grout/around taps. Cleanliness was a big issue for us anyway. While bedsheets are provided, most guests do not use them - meaning they sleep on uncovered matresses, sheets and pillows - therefore yellow, smelly duvets and matresses.. There was dust and hair literally everywhere (but not the floors, they clean the floor) and when we made our bed we found a wide array of stuff underneath the matress. We wanted to leave as soon as we arrived, but could not find anything else affordable, so we just stuck it out. (And took a long shower and washed all our clothes at the next stop..)

The toilet and shower room was clean. Close to the Taipei main station and ximen night market.

Too hot! The aircon was not working and the staff wanted us to sleep with an open window.

I like its convenient location. It’s quite close and walkable o the Taipei main train station and Ximending. The bed was comfortable and each bed got the curtain to make it a personal space for the user. The staff was so responsible to show me around and introduce all the facilities they have. And the price was really a great deal for just one night.

The space in the hostel was really small. The shower room, the kitchen area, the hallway, almost every space was mini enough to fit one person. So people mostly have to put the luggage in the main hallway along the wall, which made it only one person can pass through at a time. They require to remove shoes before stepping in the hostel property. And I would suggest bring your own slippers if you don’t want to step on the slightly sticky floor(because Taipei’s weather is quite humid) and you don’t want to use others slippers or spend NT 20 to buy the disposable one. The last but not the least, it needs to improve the cleanliness for the bathroom/toilet and the bed(too much stains on the pillow and the duvet) BUT we have to keep in mind, we get for what we pay for.

The fact we were told at 9am that once the coffee is gone it's gone there was only 1 jug of coffee for the entire hostel.. And check in is too late

Great location ! Everything is near and reachable by foot. Staff is ok, double beds are comfy, nice lounge. Overall it’s a really good place to stay (for a few nights!) and I would definitely come back.

Could be a bit cleaner AND they could give us slippers ! Because they ask us to remove our shoes, so in this case they should provide slippers. You must do your own bed when you arrive, although you see the staff doing nothing and being on their phone all day long. They say that coffee is free at the reception, but then you learn that it is free only from 7am to 11am. LOL.

Double bed capsule becomes really hot soon. No aeration. Light easily wake you up through the curtains Missing a few hangers in the room and in the bathroom

The place is quiet and it allows to actually rest. The staff is helpful and nice. They make sure that you respect the establishment rules which allows everyone to have a good stay

The first staff I talked too is very polite and accommodating to my inquires and for assistance. The basic hygene kits are not available but for purchase and there is no door so you could hear everyone walking in the hallway. But if you’re looking for a very affordable place to stay for a night this place is highly recommended but if you want a peace and comfortable stay I would go to another hotel.
